How much does a project like this typically cost?
As with most marketing projects, that depends on the complexity and size of the campaign. However, you should expect to spend at least $2500.00 for the design and printing of a direct mail piece and the development of your personalized landing page. Your postage costs will be the same as any other direct mail campaign.
Do I need a sophisticated database to make this work?
Absolutely not. A simple mailing database is all you need to get started. A more complex database can be used to drive additional variability and rules, but it is certainly not necessary. In fact, purl campaigns can be used to collect information to enhance your existing database.
Will adding a purl to a campaign automatically increase my response rate?
No. Despite what some companies will tell you, simply adding a purl to your direct mail will not increase your response. A purl is a tool, a very valuable one, that is used to make a cross media strategy effective. The fundamentals of direct marketing: a good list, strong creative, a compelling offer and clear call to action are still necessary to see positive results.
This appears more complicated than campaigns I have done in the past. Is that accurate?
We have given careful consideration to the process to ensure it is no more complicated than any other well-planned marketing campaign. We will clearly communicate what items we need from you and when we need them to stay on schedule. Initial campaigns generally take 4-6 weeks from conception to launch. Follow-up campaigns are often quicker than that as a number of the production pieces are already in place.
